Lowestoft’s fishing village – known locally as The Grit – was the most easterly community in the country before it was demolished in the 1960s. Drawing on the recollections of those who lived there, The Grit tells the story of a village which was home to to 2,300 people, three schools, churches, shops and 13 pubs. Originally published in 1997, the new edition has been comprehensively revised and re-illustrated.
