The Grit Book Launch & Exhibition

Come and celebrate the long-awaited publication of The Grit by Dean Parkin and Jack Rose. This bestselling book about the story of Lowestoft’s lost fishing village, out of print for nearly 20 years, has been comprehensively revised and redesigned.

 

In the fitting setting of Christ Church Halls – one of the last original buildings on the site – Dean Parkin will curate a special Grit Exhibition and present three 20-minute slideshows sharing extracts and rare images from the book. And of course he will be on hand for conversation and to sign copies on its first day of publication. The paperback version and a limited edition hardback of The Grit will be on sale throughout the day.

 

This 2019 edition of The Grit features new photographs, interviews and an additional chapter updating the story. Outstanding Lowestoft artist Paula White has contributed specially-commissioned illustrations, and her evocative drawings will also be part of the exhibition.
